Ooty is also called as Udhagamandalam and it is the “Queen of all the Hill Stations.” It is the popular hill station in India. Ooty is situated on the Nilgiris. It is a blue mountain range at an altitude of 7500 feet above the sea level. Ooty has two quieter hill stations. They are ‘Coonoor’ and ‘Kothagiri’. We can feel a salubrious climate which is similar to the English summer. Coonoor is about 17km and Kothagiri is about 31km from Udhagamandalam.

‘Ooty Lake’ is very proud because of its ‘Blue Hills’. The lake is about 1.5km from the station. It is in the central position and gives strategic attraction to the visitors. It is an ideal place for boating. The Boat House here includes a ‘Children’s corner’ also. The entire lake was used for fishing as a major activity in the earlier period. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation took the Possession of the lake for the pleasure of boating facilities on the behalf of the Tourism department in year 1973.
Doddabetta is about 10km from ooty bus stand. It is the highest peak in the Nilgiris which is about 2634 meters. The name Doddabetta literally means ‘big mountain’ which is so in reality. It lies at the junction of Western and Eastern Ghats. << Ooty More Information >>
It offers a beautiful visit and gives pleasure to our eyes. This Nilgiri Hill ranges are surrounded by dense Forests. We can have a magnificent view of the landscape here. Through the telescope we can see the whole district.
Coonoor is about 17km from Udhagamandalam. It is situated at an altitude of 5600 feet. This is the first of all the hill stations. The visitors are mostly attracted by the Sim’s park. This park has luxuriance of shady trees which is a pleasant place.

Experiments in fruit growing are done here at the Pomological station. The famous Pasteur institute here makes anti-polio vaccine and they have done research for rabies.

Kothagiri is about 26km from Ooty. It is also a quieter hill resort of the Nilgiri hills. A Course for Golf is also here.
Dolphin’s Nose is situated about 12km from Coonoor which is very nearer to the Tiger Hill. It lies in the midst of dense shades and criss crossed by a winding road. We can get a wonderful view of the Catherine falls from this place. << Ooty More Information >>
Pykara Lake and Water falls

Kodanadu View Point
Kodanadu is about 18km from Kotagiri on the eastern edges of the Nilgiris. We can see the fantastic and panoramic view of the tea estates on the either side of the road. There are some palaces in ooty. They are Aranmore Palace (ie) Thamizhagam, Mysore palace, Baroda Palace, The cedars which is the palace of the Nizam of Hyderabad and Nawanagar Palace. We can visit these palaces with permission only.

Upper Bhavani Dam
This dam can be visited with the permission from the Divisional Electrical Engineer. It belongs to the kundah power station & kundah Bridge of the Nilgiris District.
