The Saddle Peak National Park

The Saddle Peak National Park is located in North Andaman Island.  This park covers an area of about 32.54 sq km and it is named after the highest point in the Andaman and Nicobar Island.  It was declared as a national park in the year 1996.

This area’s climate is humid, warm and wet.  The park abounds in Luxuriant, lush green tropical rainforests.

A unique feature of this park is the stunted evergreen vegetation surrounding the peak, which is 732 meters high.  The main animal species in the park comprises Andaman wild pigs, water monitor lizard and salt water crocodile.  The important birds found here are the Andaman hill mynah and imperial Pigeon.
